HIL 2016: Kalinga Lancers begins practice session

Bhubaneswar: The Indian members of the Kalinga Lancers’ team Coal India Hockey India League (HIL) started physical test and net practice at Kalinga Stadium here on Saturday for the inaugural match to be played on January 18.

Local players Dipsan Tirkey, Ananda Lakra, Amit Rohidas, Stalin Victor Minz and Indian players S K Uthappa, Malak Singh, Dharamvir singh, Pradeep Mor, AK Pandey, Gurjindar Singh and Lalit Kumar Upadhya were spend quality time in the ground.

“The foreign players will join the team within two days. It is very short time but every franchise has to face the same problem. Before the inaugural match against Uttar Pradesh Wizards (UPW) on January 18, our team will play few practice matches that will help the players,” said newly appointed coach Mark Hager.

The initial two league matches will be crucial for all the team to get the combination right. Kalinaga Lancers is not a new team but a new formation of players. The Indian players are the part of the HIL for many years. In our team we are having both young and experience players and all they are good learner, its early to comment but I am hopeful we will be in the final, Mark added.

We are a strong team all most all the players are in good form and playing for the country in many international matches, we will make the difference this year, said Drag flicker Gurjindar Singh.
