Group clash in Ravenshaw varsity

Cuttack: Palpable tension prevailed in the Ravenshaw University campus as a group of students on Monday damaged the vehicle of the university vice chancellor this morning.

Reports said a group clash ensued between two groups of students inside the university campus on Sunday night over the immersion of Lord Ganesh idol.

While the Commissionerate police managed to bring the situation under control, a case was lodged in the Malgodown police station in which the police registered case against two students. They have been detained and are being questioned.

Demanding the withdrawal of cases against these two students, their supporters went berserk this morning and damaged the vehicle of the vice chancellor.

Till reports last came in, a meeting is underway at the office of the vice chancellor in the presence of the students of both the groups and the Commissionerate police to restore normalcy in the university.
