Ganjam district RTO department’s website hacked

In a shocking incident, the official website of RTO department of the district was hacked on December 29. But the matter came to fore on Sunday morning.

The website was reportedly hacked by Abbas Abraham.

A banner of an unknown organisation Pakistan Cybercrew is being displayed on the website of the RTO department.
Besides, National flag of Pakistan written with ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ is also displayed on the homepage of the hacked website.

Till the last report came in, the officials of the RTO department have blocked the hacked website and filed a complaint at Chattrapur police station.

When contacted district RTO Sanjay Kumar Biswal, he said, “All the data in the departmental nic website is safe. The database was shifted to the government website and the earlier one was not operational since last one month. The website we have opened to provide information was hacked and we have blocked it. We have taken all the necessary steps as per the cyber law.”

Amitav Thakur, Southern range DIG has ordered a probe into the matter.

Responding to the development, Crime Branch ADG B K Sharma said, “The state investigating agency is directly looking into the matter. We are trying to trace the IP address of the hacker. This was not the official website of Ganjam district RTO. A test website was hosted by the initiative of RTO for public convenience.”

After Puri train arson case and arrest of suspected Al-queda operative Abdur Rehman from Cuttack, the website hacking case in the district has raised serious concerns over the security measure in the state.
