Four arrested in Mankandchuan quadruple murder
Berhampur: The police today arrested the four persons- Basudev, Gouranga Mandal, Bipra Raita and Banguda Gamanga – who were detained yesterday in connection with the murder of four persons at Gaudagotha Mankadachuan village under Badagada police limits in Ganjam district.
The police, who had recovered the bodies of Bhima Gamang, his wife Jeni and two of their relatives – Dhambaru Gamang and Ananda Raita – buried underground near a forest, today rushed to the Mankandchuan village with a scientific team and sniffer dogs to extract more information.
According to police, Bhima Gamango, the village head, and his wife Jeni had no child after several years of marriage. Bhima allegedly had an illicit relationship with the niece of accused Basudev and wanted to marry her. But, Basudev vehemently opposed Bhima’s proposal since he had been suspecting that Bhima had killed his brother through black magic.
“To take revenge for his brother’s death, Basudev had hatched a plan and accordingly invited Bhima, his wife Jeni and two relatives Anand, Dambaru to a nearby forest on Saturday on the pretext of discussing his niece’s marriage,” Bhanjanagar SDPO said.
As per the plan, Basudev and three other accused waited there. When the four victims reached there, they bludgeoned them to death and buried them there, he added.
