Family row: Senior IAS officer skips SCW, seeks more time

Bhubaneswar: Senior IAS officer Taradatt did not appear before the State Commission for Women (SCW) on Tuesday in connection with the charges of moral turpitude brought by his wife.

The 1983 batch IAS officer, in a letter, has requested the Commission to give him a date to appear before it after the puja vacation,sources said.

However, Taradatt’s wife Indulata Das on Tuesday appeared before the Commission and deposed her statement. She was asked the Commission about the absence of her husband.

The Commission had asked the couple to appear for counselling.

Notably, Indulata had levelled moral turpitude charges against her husband with the SCW on July 14 this year.

Prior to this, she had filed a case against her husband with the SCW suspecting his extra-marital affair.

She had also filed a written complaint with the Chief Minister’s Grievance Cell on December 5 last year alleging mental and physical torture by her husband. She had also sought police security fearing a threat to her life.
