Durga Puja ends with idol immersion

Bhubaneswar: Durga Puja festivity on Sunday ended peacefully with immersion of idols of the goddess and side deities after celebration of Vijay Dashami yesterday.

People irrespective of caste, creed and age participated in the procession in which puja committees took out the idols mounted on vehicles around the city along with dance by masked performers.

In Bhubaneswar, total 169 puja committees participated in the immersion procession. The idols were immersed in four artificial ponds – two near Kuakhai river, one each at Bhargavi and Daya rivers – created by the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation.

Similarly, in Cuttack, total 157 puja committees participated in the procession.

The Cuttack Municipal Corporation had created two artificial ponds near Kathajodi river and one at Mahanadi river for the idol immersion.
