Woman cadre Maoist surrenders

Bhawanipatna: A cadre woman Maoist on Tuesday surrendered at the office of the superintendent of police here in Kalahandi district as she was disgusted over the Maoist activities.

“I had joined as they told me that we will change the world but eventually I saw they started opposing all developmental works like road construction among others,” said woman Maoist Kalamdei Majhi.

Briefing newsmen, Kalahandi SP Brijesh Rai said the 24-year-old woman Maoist had joined the banned CPI-Maoist in October last year.

“Her activities were limited to the Gundi and Khandualmali Reserve Forest areas. She decided to quit the outlawed group as she was disgusted over the Maoist activities. Besides, she was also harassed by senior cadres,” the SP said.

Disgusted over the Maoist activities, she decided to quit the outfit. She also complained of harassment of women members by senior cadres, the SP said.
