Dipu, Om murder: D-brothers’ aide arrested
Cuttack: Police on Thursday arrested Suvendu Das alias Pinta, another accused in the Dipu & Om murder case.
Police was on the lookout for Pinta who was absconding for past few days.
“He (Pinta) was one of the main persons involved in the abduction and killing of Dipu and Om along with the Sushil and Sushant Dhalsamanta brothers. After getting specific information, we have arrested him. We will forward him to court,” Cuttack DCP Sanjeev Arora said.
The official said Pinta was one of the seven accused who are involved in the brutal murder of Om and Dipu two years back. Sources said, Pinta, a member of Cuttack Youth Association, was also involved in many criminal activities pertaining to extortion, firing and bomb explosion. There are cases pending against him in Bidanasi and Mangalabag police stations.
“As per his information, he was associated with the criminal siblings since past five years and was one of the persons who were present on the murder scene of Dipu and Om along with the D-brothers,” Arora stated.
In a similar development, family members of pulses trader Mohammad Farooq, who was murdered by unidentified assailants in Cuttack’s Malgodown area in 2014, met Arora and discussed about the progress of the investigation.
“We got to know from today’s newspaper that D-brothers’ men are involved in the murder of Farooq. We met the police officers and they told us that they are trying to nab the culprit. They will inform us after further investigation,” a family member of Farooq said.
“We have requested the officials to nab the murderer and he must be punished. They assured us that the culprit will be caught soon,” she added.
When asked about the 2014 incident, she said, “We knew nothing about the persons who are suspected to be involved in the crime. Till today nobody has told us about any such criminals who are linked with the murder of Farooq.”
Another member of farooq’s family who also met the police officials said, only a thorough investigation can lift curtains from the incident.
“We don’t know for what he (Farooq) was murdered, and whose hands were behind the scene. We didn’t even receive any threat or ransom call.
Confirming the visit of Farooq’s family members, Arora said, “The family of Farooq met me today. We have got specific clues about the case. Further investigation is going on. The team will work abased on the evidence. We need to investigate on the matter.”
