Dal de-hoarding drive continues

Koraput/Berhampur/Bhubaneswar: Crackdown on hoarders of pulses continued today with raids in Koraput and Ganjam districts. The Civil Supplies department conducted raids at Semiliguda and Sunabeda areas of Koraput district.

A team comprising Koraput Civil Supplies department official, supply inspector of Potangi and executive officer of Sunabeda municipality conducted the raids. Acting on a tip-off that few traders in the area are hoarding pulses and selling them at higher prices the officials carried out the raids. However, no evidence was found during the raids.

“Dal prices here are quite steady and after conducting raids at various places we found no instances of overstocking,” said Koraput assistant civil supplies officer Ganeswar Choudhury. We will continue to conduct raids, he added.

In Berhampur, 8 godowns were raided by Civil Supplies department officials. Around 1,371 quintals of dal were seized from the godown of Sakaleswar Traders, while another 1,449 quintals of pulses were seized from the godown of Narayani Traders.
