Criminal brothers’ armoury busted at CDA house
Cuttack: After arresting the notorious criminal brothers-Sushil Dhalsamant and Sushant Dhalsamant- from Bhubaneswar, the special team of commissionerate police, which busted the duo’s armoury at their CDA house on Friday evening, also seized a diary containing information about their fiscal transactions and some influential persons’ name along with other important documents during last night raids at CDA here.
Informing this, police commissioner YB Khurania said four mousers, 127 rounds of live bullets, one double barrel gun were seized from the armoury on Friday evening. He said details of the armoury will be shared at a press meet today.
On the other hand the siblings will be produced in a court today, Khurania said adding police will seek seven-day remand.
The two most wanted brothers in several murder, extortion and tender fixing cases in Odisha and outside-were arrested from a rented house at Pokhariput in Bhubaneswar on Friday.
Police seized more than Rs 2 crore in cash, a fleet of luxury cars and huge cache of arms and ammunition from his houses in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack.
The two brothers, according to police, have long been on the wanted list of police. Non-bailable warrants had been pending against the two since 2004.
The siblings were absconding since 2004 and were staying in cities like Visakhapatnam and Mumbai on fake identities.
Of the two brothers, Sushil is understood to have links with some high-profile political leaders. He was once seen sharing dais with Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and PCC vice president Suresh Mohapatra at a function of the Cuttack-based Yuva Nagar Sangha. Sushi heads the Sangha. Senior Congress leader Lalatendu Bidyadhar Mohapatra, BJP leader Sameer Dey and BJD MLA Debasis Samantray were also seen with him in separate programmes.
The duo had gained notoriety since 1993-94 and was accused in several cases of murders, attempt to murder, dacoity, robbery and extortion.
