Chit fund scam: BJD MP, two former MLAs questioned by CBI
Bhubaneswar: BJD MP from Mayurbhanj Ram Chandra Hansda and two former MLAs appeared before the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for questioning in connection with multi-crore chit fund scam case.
The Mayurbhanj MP appeared before CBI at around 10.45 am and was let off after 1 hour. But he again entered the CBI office with some documents after some time.
After his first round of interrogation, Hansda said, “This situation has arisen as the company officials were unable to manage the affairs properly.”
Further, he added his personal, party workers and party’s money are included in Rs 28 lakh cash that was seized from the Rairangpur residence.
Till the filing of this report, quizzing of former BJD MLA from Keonjhar Subarna Nayak and former BJP MLA Hitesh Bargati at the CBI office was going on.
Sources said the trio is being questioned in connection with the scam done by Nabadiganta Capital Services, in which the MP and two former MLAs were directors.
The central investigating agency has already arrested the firm’s CMD Anjan Baliarsingh and two directors – Kartik Parida and Pradeep Patnaik.
The CBI had in the past raided the houses of these three political leaders and seized cash and several other documents. The team had seized Rs 28 lakh cash from the Rairangpur residence of the BJD MP.
