Cart carrying Jagannath ‘daru’ leaves for Puri
Jagatsinghpur: The cart carrying Lord Jagannath ‘daru’ (holy wood) has finally embarked on its journey towards Srimandir in Puri from Kharipadia village in the district.
The cart was scheduled to leave yesterday but could not procced due to unfinished ‘choupat’ work.
Thousands of devotees thronged the site this afternoon when the cart carrying daru of Jagannath was readying to roll and then the entire village turns into a pilgrimage spot with chanting of ‘Hari Bol’ and ‘Jai Jagannath’, reports said.
In the night, the cart will stay at a temple in Ramkumarpur village of Cuttack district, the reports added.
And, it (daru) will reach Koili Baikuntha (north gate of Sri Mandir) by May 20.
