Bus strike call: Operators to meet Finance minister tomorrow
Bhubaneswar: A meeting between Odisha Private Bus Owners’ Association and Finance minister will be held on Monday in the wake of all Odisha bus strike call from December 1.
Sources said this meeting is significant as the first round of talk held on Monday between the Association and government had failed to yield any solutions.
Besides the Finance minister, several other ministers like Urban Development minister Pushpendra Singh Deo, Transport minister Ramesh Majhi among others will attend the meeting.
Notably, the bus owners have been opposing hike in the motor vehicle tax as decided by the Odisha cabinet recently. Apart from this issue, they have been also opposing the city buses linking services in three cities –Bhubaneswar, Puri and Cuttack by Dream Team Sahara (DTS), a bus linking service running under Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission, a central government’s scheme.
