Black money probe: SIT meeting begins
Cuttack: Meeting of the special investigation team (SIT) probing the Black money trail, has begun in Cuttack today. According to sources, the meeting is being held under the chairmanship of SIT vice-chief Justice Arijit Pasayat at his residence.
In today’s meeting, the Crime Branch (CB), Enforcement Directorate, CBI and Revenue officials are likely to present their findings of their investigation into the operations of various self-proclaimed godmen, informed sources.
Though the team is reportedly directing its investigation primarily against offenders in illegal mining cases and multi-thousand crore chit fund scam in Odisha, the recent cases relating self-proclaimed godmen has come under its ambit.
Officials of ED, CB, Income Tax (IT) department, Central Bureau of Direct Tax, and Commercial Tax department are present in the meeting.
