Bhakta does a mea culpa; patches up with Harichandan

Bhubaneswar: After indulging in a war of words with Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Prasad Harichandan over the appointment of Kalhandi district Congress president, senior Congress leader and former Kalahandi MP Bhakta Charan Das did a mea culpa today.

“There was a communication gap between me and Prasad Harichandan and I regret that the altercation led to a bad perception about the party,” said Das after a closed-door meeting with the State Congress chief today.

“I made the comments in a fit of anger and it was not right on my part as differences could have been settled through discussions. Harichandan is the elected chief of the party and we should all cooperate with him,” added Das.

Last December, Das While alleging that decision to appoint Govardhan Das as Kalahandi district Congress president had been taken without his consultation, he had told OTV in popular talk show ‘Kholakatha in December last; “If MD-like attitude is taken to run the organization, the party would suffer more in the coming days.”

“Before appointing the district president, I was neither informed nor was any discussion held with me in this regard,” Das had said.

However, refuting such allegation, Harichandan had clarified that a thorough discussion was held with all top guns of the party, including former MLAs and MPs over such an appointment.
