Loot money behind Berhampur shootout
Berhampur: Mystery surrounding the murder of two youth who were gunned down by unknown assailants in Berhampur town, is slowly unfolding after identification of one of the deceased and the motive behind the crime.
According to sources, one of the deceased has been identified as Lalu Yadav, hailing from Bihar. Row over sharing of loot money is suspected to be the main motive behind the crime, they added.
Yesterday, two youths were shot dead by unidentified persons at Lanjipalli Road in Berhampur. The incident occurred around 9 am in the morning, while the 8-9 persons were coming in an auto-rickshaw from Chhatrapur, about 20 km from here, to Kamapalli area in Berhampur town.
The miscreants who were in the first auto, intercepted the second auto and fired at two of its passengers, police said quoting the auto drivers version.
The armed miscreants also looted a motorbike of Ch. Naresh Patra, a local man at the gun point, who was passing by the road and escaped from the spot in the bike towards Kamapalli, the bike owner told the police.
The miscreants were speaking in Hindi, informed sources.
Police seized two rounds of ammunition, two laptop bags, a mobile phone set, some cash from the spot.
