Badagaon bandh demanding early arrest of murder accused

Sundargarh: Shops, schools and colleges remained shut at Badagaon area in the district on Saturday due to a 12-hour bandh observed to protest against the police inaction in a murder case.

The district administration made tight security arrangements in the area to avoid any untoward incident.

“As the accused has not been detected yet and demanding to expedite the investigation, the locals have called for the bandh to expedite the investigation and arrest the accused soon. Three platoons of force have been deployed at each sensitive place,” Bijay Kumar Nayak, SDPO, Rajagangpur, said.

Nayak said schools and colleges remained open and vehicles were plying on roads unobstructed.

The father of the deceased Jogendra Sethy said, “My son was killed in broad daylight. But the police have not done anything yet. Therefore, loca people along with me are staging the bandh. Despite all the necessary information provided to them, no action has been taken yet.”

Though Ramananda Sethy of Badagaon basti was murdered on Kantiamura-Mukundpur road on January 4, the accused are yet to be nabbed.
