Adivasis confront with cops in Balangir

Balangir: Members of adivasi sangha today confronted with police officials after trying to enter forcibly into the District Rural Development Agency (DRDA) conference hall where the Zilla Parishad meeting was going on.

Sources said the members of adivasi sangha, armed with traditional weapons, chased the police officers when they were prevented from barging into the conference hall.

“The administration is doing no good for tribals and not even taking any steps against the continuous torture and harassment cases’, said some members of the adivasi sangha.

The Sangha alleged that no action has been taken against Dhruba Charan Saraf, the husband of Damayanti Saraf, Zilla Parishad member from Khaprakhol who had attacked the district planning officer of Bolangir Mahendranath Munda a few days back.
