Malkangiri: Abducted villager killed by Maoists
Malkangiri: The Maoists murdered an abducted villager by slitting his throat late on Friday night suspecting him to be a police informer in the district, police said.
Bhima Podiami, a resident of Dandhipadar village under Mathili police limits, was abducted by the rebels on October 18.
A group of 30 armed Maoists arrived at Dandhipadar village on the night of October 18 and dragged Bhima out of his house at gun-point. Later, they took him to the nearby forest, sources said.
Bhima was a militia of the outlawed Maoist outfit but had surrendered before police in 2013. The Maoists have so far killed four former militia members, who had surrendered before Malkangiri police in 2013.
On October 17, the left-wing extremists had killed one Dambru Sagaria of Mundaguda village in the district suspecting him to be a police informer.
He was also abducted along with another villager Sama Madhi at gun-point from Mundaguda village. While Sama had managed to escape from the Maoist camp inside a forest the next day, the ultras had kept Dambru hostage.
This apart, the ultras had killed Rama Madkami and Sada Madhi of Kanaguda village under Kalimela police limits on the same ground.
