Tension abates at Trahi Achyuta ashram; 4 police camps set up

Bhubaneswar: Tension abated at the Trahi Achyuta ashram near Jhiniti on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar today after the ashram’s chief Surendra Mishra alias Sura Baba was sent to jail yesterday by court over allegations of land grabbing and other crimes.

However, as a precautionary measure police have set up four camps to prevent any untoward incident. Moreover, 13 platoons of force have been deployed at the ashram to maintain strict vigil around the ashram.

A peace committee was setup yesterday to calm things down and avoid any untoward incident at Trahi Achyuta ashram which was vandalized and ransacked by angry locals this evening.

Yesterday Mishra and his two sons- Trilochan and Biranchi were sent to Jharpada jail here after court order.

Earlier all the three were produced in the Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) court here. The court order followed after no bail plea was made on behalf of the trio. The Commissionerate police also didn’t apply for their remand though government land grabbing allegations were leveled against the father-son trio along with social misconduct inside the Ashram.
