Puri: In a tragic incident, four members of a family including two minor girls were found dead in the house with throat slit at Nagar village under Astaranga police limits in the district last night.
The house belongs to retired district inspector (DI) of schools, Dinabandhu Mallick who was killed along with his wife and two daughters.
Puri SP Asish Singh formed a 4-member team police to investigate the murder case. Scientific team reached the spot today. IG RP Kochhe also rushed to the spot to take stock of the situation.
Meanwhile, mild tension erupted at the spot over the murder incident as hundreds of villagers locked the room where the bodies are lying and demanded a crime branch probe in to the entire incident. The irate locals also detained the police vehicle which came to take the bodies for post-mortem. The police should arrest the accused first before taking the bodies, villagers said.
Relatives of deceased said miscreants might have committed the crime for properties. On the other hand, police have not detained anyone on the matter.
