1,035 more seats for govt engg colleges

Bhubaneswar: The State government today decided to add 1,035 more seats to Vir Surendra Sai University of Technology (VSSUT) in Burla and five other government engineering colleges.

The seats would be increased in four courses – BTech, MTech, MSc and Integrated Dual Degree (IDD), according to reports.

With this, the total strength in all government-run engineering colleges in the State reached 4,895 seats from 3,860 seats earlier.

All the newly added seats would be available for admission from the current academic session on the basis of ranks secured in All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE), said Prashant Das, additional secretary of Technical Education and Training.

Meanwhile, the State Technical Education department has launched two new courses – Computer Science Engineering and Civil Engineering – in the Government Engineering College at Keonjhar having 60 seats each.
