Bhubneswar: Aspiring B.Ed. candidates applying for Odisha Teachers’ Eligibility Test (OTET) 2019 have alleged that they are facing problems in filling the application form for the examination.

According to reports, B.Ed candidates are unable to fill up the OTET form online due to absence of any category for B.Ed. (Special Education). Raising concerns over the issue, several B.Ed students have staged a dharna in front of the Board of Secondary Education office here on Monday.

“We had easily filled up the exam form last year when the notification was released in January 2018. However, this year, we are facing a lot of problems in applying for the exam. Since the online form does not have an option for B.Ed (Special Education), we are not able to select our choice,” said a candidate, Debasish Pati.

With just three days before the conclusion of the deadline for the submission of the form, students have urged the Board to take swift action regarding the matter. They have also warned that if the Board fails to resolve the issue, they will intensify their protest.

“We have already apprised the Board about the problems. If our issues are not resolved, we will intensify our dharna at the BSE office here,” said Pati.

It may be noted that following allegations of question paper leak on January 16, 2019, the BSE recently issued a fresh notification for conduct of the examination and asked the eligible candidates to apply online by visiting its official website- www.bseodisha.nic.in from July 15 to July 26, 2019.

Even as the exact date of OTET examination is yet to be announced, Board sources said it is likely to be conducted in the first week of August.

The candidates whose Roll numbers were generated for the OTET-2018 have also been asked to fill the online application for the fresh examination without depositing the requisite fees. Candidates who do not fill the application form within the stipulated time will not be allowed to appear for the examination, the Board had said.
