Phulbani: In a bid to provide road communication to nine Maoist-hit blocks in Kandhamal district, Odisha State Road Trasnport Corporation (OSRTC) has decided to open an unit at Baliguda, official sources said.
 
"The people in Maoist-hit blocks like Daringbadi, Kotagarh, Tumudibandha, Raikia and Chakapad will be benefited," said sub-collector Prem Chand Chowdhury.
 
The district administration has allowed OSRTC authority to set up a ticket counter and a garage in the existing bus stand to operate at least 18 buses daily which will ply in the 9 blocks under Balliguda sub-division in day time.
 
This apart, OSRTC buses will connect Berhampur, Bhubaneswar, Sambalpur, Badamba, Khariar, Bhawanipatna, Paralakhemundi, Bhanjanagar particularly in night time, he added.
 
The Baliguda unit will operate under Berhampur OSRTC division, he said.
