Rourkela: Odisha State Pollution Control Board (OSPCB) has issued consent to public sector Bisra Stone Lime (BSL) Company Ltd to operate its mines, closed since November last year.

BSL mining operation chief Anup Bage said OSPCB`s letter of consent was received on Monday and normal operation in the lime stone mines at Birmitrapur in Sundargarh district would resume after formal order from deputy director, mines, Rourkela.

The OSPCB has earlier issued suspension of mining operation of the century-old BSL in absence of environment clearance, which had expired on March 30, 2011.

BSL has suffered loss of approximately Rs 17 crore following the closure of operation. Meanwhile, the company has been taking all steps to enhance its annual production capacity from existing 9.6 lakh tonne to 5 million tonne and awaiting the clearance from union ministry of Environment and Forest, Bage said.
