Cuttack: Orissa Cricket Association (OCA) in a meeting organized on Wednesday declared that Orissa Premier League (OPL) T-20 to start from May 22.

While the listed players will be auctioned on May 13 and the names of the franchisees will be declared on May 9.

Asribad Behera, Secretary, OCA said, “On 13th at 11 am the bidding will start, in which all the franchisees and all the coaches will be present.”

While eight teams will fight it out in OPL T-20; the bidding will be among 13 districts in the first phase; out of which eight teams will be selected to play the matches. Then there will be two groups having four teams each.

The team which would emerge as champion will get Rs 3 lakh as the prize money, Rs 2 lakh for runners up and Man of the Series will get Rs 25.000.

The players have been graded in five categories. The best prices for Grade-A, Grade-B, Grade -C, Grade -D, Grade -E are going to be Rs 50,000, Rs 30, 000, Rs 20, 000, Rs, 10,000 and Rs 5,000 respectively.  

A governing council has also been formed to monitor the tournament. The best prices for franchisee are going to be Rs 4 lakh, while the bidding form is to be sold at Rs 5, 000. 

Tirupati Panigrahi, Chairman, OPL governing council said, “A revolution has been started by media, giving confidence in the corporate sector — which will surely attract the best clients.”
 
Scheduled to play a total of 27 matches, the tournament is going end on June 5.

According to OCA, the proceeds from this tournament will be handed to the State Government.
