Bhubaneswar: Out of power in Odisha since 2000, state Congress Committee on Saturday asked its party workers and leaders to maintain strict discipline in order to oust the BJD government headed by Naveen Patnaik.

"This is a final call for change and together we shall get rid of this government," Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) President Niranjan Patnaik said on his return here after attending a conference of state Congress chiefs convened by Rahul Gandhi in Delhi.

Patnaik said he drew attention of Rahul Gandhi seeking larger support of the central leadership towards the state Congress.

"In the last few months Congress workers in the state have shown a fighting spirit, but we need to revive the Congress organisation in several pockets and need the support of central leadership," he added.

OPCC wanted more visits of central leaders to the state, Patnaik said adding the people should be assured that Congress could provide a better alternative.

Lauding schemes like Cash Transfer, Patnaik said the UPA government has introduced many such programmes but the benefits have not reached people, the OPCC president said.
