One person was killed, and two others sustained critical injuries in a violent group clash near the Sai Temple in Hatpada area of Bargarh district on Thursday, triggering panic among local residents. The deceased has been identified as Pradeep Luha, a resident of College Road.
According to reports, he suffered grievous injuries to his head, neck, and other parts of his body during the attack. He was initially undergoing treatment in a critical condition but later succumbed to his injuries.
Two injured shifted to Burla
Two of his companions, identified as Rithik and Suraj, were also injured in the incident. They were first rushed to the local community health centre for treatment and later shifted to Burla due to the seriousness of their condition. Both are currently undergoing treatment and are reported to be critical.
Investigation underway
Preliminary investigation suggests that the clash began as a verbal altercation between two groups over a personal dispute. The argument soon escalated into violence, with sharp weapons allegedly being used during the attack.
On receiving information, personnel from the Town Police Station rushed to the spot and launched a detailed investigation. Police are probing the exact cause of the clash, the sequence of events, and the involvement of others in the incident.
