One killed, six injured in separate road mishaps in Odisha

Khurda/Balasore: One person was killed and six others were critically injured in two separate mishaps in Khurda and Balasore districts. According to reports, a youth was killed while another person was injured after the motorcycle they were riding on was hit by an unknown vehicle near Sarua chhak under Town Police limits in Khurda district in the wee hours on Saturday.

The identity of the duo is yet to be ascertained. However, the injured has been admitted to Khurda District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) and his condition is said to be stable.

In another incident, five persons including three of a family were critically injured following head-on collision between two bikes at Anantapur near Kuamara Chhak in Soro area of Balasore district on Friday night.

The injured have been identified as Debasish Sahoo, his wife Sabit and sister-in-law Tapaswini of Eram village. According to reports, the trio was travelling towards Soro Railway Station on a motorcycle which collided with another bike.

Two youths Hemanta Mohanty and Sanat Kumar Nath have also sustained critical injuries in the accident.

Locals rescued all the five injured and admitted them to Soro Community Health Centre (CHC). Later, all the injured were shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack after their conditions deteriorated, sources said.
