One killed, 7 injured in political clash

Kendrapara: One person was killed and seven others injured when two groups of supporters from rival political parties clashed at Malua village in Kendrapara district, the police said today. "One platoon of armed police (about 30) has been stationed in the village since the clash last night," Superintendent of Police Narasingha Bhol said.

This type of clashes took place twice in the village since the three-tier panchayat polls held earlier this year, the police said. Achyutanada Sethy, one of the injured persons, died today at SCB Medical college and Hospital in Cuttack, sources said. The troubled village wore a deserted look and majority of adult male members fled the village fearing possible arrest by the police, officials said.
