Bhubaneswar: One person was killed and 20 others injured, five of them seriously, when a passenger bus hit a car and an auto-rickshaw on National Highway-203, about 20 km from here on Thursday, police said.

The accident took place before noon when a car was overtaking the auto-rickshaw near Makundpur village on the highway connecting the state capital and Puri.

The passenger bus came on the way of the two vehicles resulting in the accident, police said.

The deceased was identified as Soumendra Das of the locality while the seriously injured five persons were shifted to SCB Medical College Hospital in Cuttack.

Other injured were undergoing treatment at the Capital Hospital here, said Pipili sub-divisional police officer (SDPO) Rajendra Kumar Rout.

The place of accident was close to another mishap site of Tuesday where two school girls were run over by a speeding truck.
