OMFED tanker detained by farmers demanding payment, fodder
Bhadrak: More than 100 livestock farmers from Motto, Badasingpur, Kandia Sahi and nearby areas of Mayurbhanj district detained an OMFED milk collection tanker today demanding payment and supply of fodder. According to sources, the livestock farmers who supplied milk to OMFED through their society alleged that they have not received payment for the milk supplied by them.
On the other hand, OMFED officials said that the payment is pending in Salapada dairy owing to supply of poor quality milk by the farmers.
“If the milk was of poor quality, the supervisor should have returned the milk. They said that the payment for the supply of milk on November 29 and 30 will not be made as it was of poor quality. OMFED officials are citing various reasons and delaying the payment,” said a farmer.
Meanwhile, the farmers are also agitated over OMFED for not supplying fodder for the cattle. However, the district OMFED manager has assured the farmers of payment and supply of fodder.
OMFED unit in-charge, Jatindranath Das said “The Salapada diary had rejected the milk owing to poor quality. As it has been rejected, the milk union has not been issued payment.”
“Fodder is supplied once a month. It has reached Chandbali plant today. It will be supplied to the farmers soon,” Das added.
