Old man dies during police raid, villagers stage road blockade

Kendrapara: In a tragic incident an old man died during police raid at Bhagabatipur village under Chaudakulata police outpost in the district late on Wednesday night.

The deceased has been identified as Basant Nayak (62).

According to sources, police raided the house of Nayak late on Wednesday night in search of his son following a scuffle during dola melana procession.

Police misbehaved Nayak during the raid and he died of shock, the villagers alleged.

Following the incident, the irate villagers detained four persons including two police officials. Irate over the incident the villagers staged a road blockade keeping the body on the road.
