Jajpur: Accusing ruling BJD activists of damaging its hoardings and banners put up for new year day at several places in Jajpur district, Odisha Jana Morcha (OJM) today demanded probe into the matter by a special investigation officer.

A delegation of OJM led by its Jajpur district organiser Pravakar Nayak met district Superintendent of Police at Panikoili and submitted a memorandum seeking a thorough probe into the damage caused to the hoardings and banners put up in Dharmasala constituency.

The team alleged that BJD activists and supporters damaged the OJM hoardings and banners which were put up at Rathia, Jaraka, Aruha and Barabati under Dharmasala assembly constituency in the district.

The OJM hoardings and banners carried pictures of expelled BJD leader and Rajya Sabha MP Pyarimohan Mohapatra, former chief minister Biju Patnaik and OJM core committee member Basudev Patra, wishing people a Happy New Year.

The OJM Jajpur district unit in a meeting condemned the said incident saying the BJD had become paranoid over the rise in popularity of Pyarimohan Mohapatra.

The SP assured the delegation that the matter would be looked into.

OJM youth wing secretary had earlier filed an FIR with Dharmasala police alleging damage of OJM hoardings and banners by ruling BJD activists and the supporters of a state minister.
