Oil tanker used for cattle smuggling intercepted in Bhadrak, investigation underway

An unusual case of illegal cattle smuggling came to light in Odisha’s Bhadrak district on Sunday, where traders allegedly used an oil tanker to transport cattle in an attempt to evade detection. The incident has sparked tension in the area and raised concerns over the use of innovative methods for illegal activities.

According to initial information, local residents intercepted the tanker on Sunday morning while it was being used to illegally transport cattle. The vehicle, designed to carry oil, was found to be carrying a large number of cattle, prompting immediate intervention by people in the area.

Tanker Stopped on National Highway 16

The incident occurred near Barikpur Chhak on National Highway 16 in Bhadrak district. Locals stopped the tanker after suspecting illegal activity. The vehicle was travelling from Cuttack to Bhadrak when it was intercepted. Upon inspection, more than 35 cattle were found packed inside the oil tanker.

Police Launch Investigation

Officials are examining how the cattle were loaded into the tanker and identifying those involved in the alleged smuggling operation.
