A 24-year-old youth was allegedly stabbed to death with a machete by a group of attackers in Odisha’s Bhadrak district late on Sunday night. The incident occurred at Gunthunia Bazar under the jurisdiction of Bhadrak Town Police Station.
The deceased has been identified as Srikumar Swami. According to reports, the attack took place after the victim was called out of his house by a group of youths while he was watching cricket match at home.
Called Outside Before Attack
Sources said Srikumar was watching the World Cup cricket match at his residence when he received a phone call from some youths asking him to come outside. After he stepped out of the house, the group allegedly launched a sudden assault on him.
The attackers reportedly used a machete and other lethal weapons during the assault. Srikumar sustained multiple injuries all over his body and was left critically injured and bleeding profusely.
The deceased youth's father demanded justice and said, "They should face the same punishment for what they have done to my son. Today they have done this to my son; tomorrow it could be someone else’s son. I have lost everything. He was my only son, and I was dependent on him."
Youth Declared Dead
Following the attack, Srikumar was rushed to Bhadrak DHH in a severely injured and blood-soaked condition. However, doctors declared him dead upon arrival at the hospital.
Police initiated an investigation into the incident. In connection with the case, three persons have been detained and were being questioned by the police at the time of reporting.
