Berhampur: Continuing to set the sky as limit, a youth from Bhabarada village of Polsara block in Ganjam district is aiming to rewrite his name in Guinness World Records books.

Manoj Maharana wants to better his previous records and script a new one.

Manoj is eyeing a record by stuffing 533 straws in his mouth for 30 seconds. A youth from Mumbai now holds the record of stuffing 496 straws in mouth at once.

Manoj is also aiming another record after stuffing 40 lit candles in his mouth to break the earlier record of maximum 37 candles held by a Mumbai youth Dinesh ShivnathUpadhyay.

Similarly, he has further attempted a record by flipping a 6.5 cm-long toothpick inside his mouth 42 times in a minute.

Manoj’s attempts have put his family and friends on cloud nine as they hope that he will rewrite the record books.

Manoj himself is also very optimistic about the records. “I managed to successfully attempt three records which I hope will be enough to make into the Guinness World Records,” he said.

Manoj further said his drive to do something unique has always inspired him. “I was always fascinated by watching Guinness Records in television and had aspired to be a record holder one day," he said.

His parents have also expressed happiness over the news. “I have always supported his ambitions and have encouraged him all along to do what he loves to do,” Manoj's father Bhagaban Maharana said.

Hrushikesh Panigrahy, a judge who inspected the record attempts by Manoj said “In all the three categories, Manoj has showed excellent performance of international standards. He has registered records which are much better than the present Guinness Records. I hope he will make everyone proud,” he said.
