In a significant administrative action, Santoshini Dash, the Jailer of Kantabanji Sub-Jail, has been placed under suspension by the Director General of Prisons over negligence in duty and misconduct. The decision comes amid continued scrutiny following recent controversies linked to her tenure and transfer within the prison system.
Dash had earlier been transferred from Choudwar Jail to Kantabanji Sub-Jail after two dreaded inmates from Bihar managed to escape from Choudwar Jail during Dussehra.
The incident had triggered widespread concern and placed her at the centre of controversy.
Subsequently, she was shifted to Kantabanji. Amid the developments, Santoshini Dash cited health-related reasons and maintained that she was on leave.
In the letter, it was firmly mentioned that, the Jailer-cum-Superintendent of Sub-jail Kantabanji, Santoshini Dash is contemplated for dereliction of duty and grave misconduct which comes under the rule 12 of the Orissa Civil Services (Classification, Control and Appeal) Rules, 1962.
In the letter, it was further mentioned that the Smt. Dash shall not leave the Headquarters without obtaining the permission of the competent authority and shall be entitled to the payment of subsistence allowance in accordance with Rule 90 of the Odisha service code.
