Berhampur:  The sports enthusiasts of the Silk City and people in general here got into a mood of celebration when the news spread that K. Ravi Kumar, the famed weightlifter has been selected for the Arjuna Award for his outstanding performance in the field of weight lifting.

Having the distinction of being the seventh Oriya to get the coveted Arjuna Award — Ravi Kumar previously won silver medal in the 1982 Commonwealth Games in Australia.

He had shot into fame when he broke a record to bag the gold medal in the New Delhi Commonwealth games. He has also been honoured with Ekalavya award.
