Kandhamal: Former Kendrapara MP Baijayant 'Jay' Panda once again rued lack of job opportunities in Odisha which is forcing thousands of youths to migrate to other parts of the country and world.

Talking to reporters on the sidelines of Heijau, an informal tea party at Daringbadi in Kandhamal, Panda alleged that the Odisha government has failed miserably to create jobs for people in the state.

Moreover, there has been significant rise in 'misrule' in the past four to five years here, he added.

"More than 40 lakh Odia labourers are working under dangerous conditions in other countries like Iraq and Afghanistan. Besides, the atrocities against women and children in Odisha is also on the rise. There is misrule and goondaism going on in Odisha. I will appreciate and extend support to whichever party or leader comes forward to end goondaism in the State," Panda said.

Earlier, Panda arrived at Daringbadi to a rousing reception for the informal tea party which has been appreciated by people across Odisha. A massive rally was also organised from Sanmaha village to Chari chhak on the occasion.

At the Heijau event, Panda also discussed communal situation, increasing attacks on several Opposition leaders, unemployment, and issue of bonded labour with intellectuals, youths and people from different walks of life.

Discussion was also held on how Odia labourers working under difficult conditions outside the State and country can be rehabilitated.
