Dense fog gripped large parts of Odisha, causing widespread disruption to normal life across the state on Saturday, as the Regional Meteorological Centre issued alerts for 14 districts.
Visibility remained extremely poor till around 10 am, making road travel difficult and affecting daily activities. Commuters faced major inconvenience as vehicles moved at a slow pace on highways and city roads due to low visibility.
According to the Bhubaneswar Regional Meteorological Centre, the impact of fog is likely to continue for the next four days across several districts. For the next 24 hours, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued fog warnings for 14 districts of the state, urging people to remain cautious while travelling, especially during early morning hours.
Warnings issued
An Orange Warning for dense fog has been issued for four districts — Khordha, Puri, Cuttack and Jagatsinghpur — indicating a higher level of risk and the possibility of significant disruption. Meanwhile, a Yellow Warning has been issued for ten districts, including Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Jajpur, Dhenkanal, Nayagarh, Kandhamal, Ganjam, Gajapati and Sundargarh.

The weather department advised motorists to use fog lights, maintain safe distances and avoid unnecessary travel during early hours. Authorities have also been asked to remain alert as dense fog conditions may affect road safety and transportation services across the state in the coming days.
