Officials of the Odisha Vigilance Department conducted simultaneous raids on properties linked to an Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) of the Water Resources Department on Saturday over allegations of possessing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.

The officer, identified as Pramod Ray, is currently posted as the Assistant Executive Engineer in the Derabish Irrigation Division in Kendrapara district. Acting on the allegations, vigilance teams carried out searches at seven locations associated with him across multiple districts.

Raids Across Multiple Districts

According to sources, the searches were conducted at properties in Kendrapara, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Bhadrak and Bhubaneswar.

In Bhubaneswar’s Balianta area, vigilance officials searched a four-storey residential building allegedly linked to Ray. Another two-storey house at Choudwar in Cuttack also came under the scanner.

Teams also conducted verification at the residences of his relatives in Bhadrak and Dhenkanal as part of the ongoing investigation. Officials said documents, financial records and other materials are being examined to determine the extent of assets owned by the engineer.

Large Vigilance Team Deployed

A large team of vigilance officials has been deployed for the operation. The raid is being carried out under the supervision of two Additional Superintendents of Police (SPs), assisted by seven Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs), along with inspectors and sub-inspectors.

Authorities said the searches are part of an ongoing probe into allegations that the engineer accumulated assets beyond his known sources of income. However, officials are yet to ascertain the total period of his government service. Further investigation is underway.
