The State Vigilance Department has created history by breaking a two-decade-old record, marking a significant milestone in the fight against corruption in Odisha

Guided by the Chief Minister’s policy of zero tolerance towards corruption, the Vigilance Department has shifted into full action mode, intensifying its crackdown on corrupt practices across the state.

Between April and December 2025, the State government directed the Vigilance Department to investigate as many as 125 cases-an unprecedented figure and a record in itself. This remarkable achievement reflects the government’s renewed commitment to ensuring transparency and accountability in public administration.

In recognition of its improved institutional standards and performance, the State Vigilance Academy has also been awarded ISO certification, further strengthening the department’s credibility and professional capacity.

A high-level review meeting of the Vigilance Department was held today at Lok Seva Bhawan under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Mohan Majhi. According to information shared during the meeting, the Vigilance Department delivered verdicts in 488 cases in 2025 alone. Of these, accused persons were convicted in 108 cases. Notably, the department recorded the highest-ever disposal of disproportionate assets cases, with verdicts delivered in 173 such cases.

Officials highlighted that within a span of just nine months, the State government has never before issued instructions to investigate such a large number of cases. This achievement stands as an all-time record in the history of the State’s anti-corruption efforts.

Emphasising the government’s resolve to make Odisha completely corruption-free, Chief Minister Mohan Majhi advised the Vigilance Department to continue this intensive campaign against corruption with the same momentum in the days ahead.
