Bhubaneswar: Concerned over energy conservation in its properties, Odisha Tourism signed an MoU with The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) for energy audit in its hotels and stay homes.
 
The Odisha Tourism Development Corporation (OTDC) has at least 22 properties, known as Pantha Niwas, in operation which provided comfortable stay for the tourists.
 
"TERI will carry out an energy audit and advise us on changes that can be brought in our utilities to save power.
 
TERI will advise us about future constructions and ensure that they are Green Rating for Integrated Habitat Assessment (GRIHA)," said a OTDC official.
 
According to provision of the MoU, TERI will provide advisory inputs on sustainable habitants relating to various projects implemented by OTDC (Odisha Tourism Department Circuit) and destination development projects.
 
TERI will also provide inputs to make existing projectsand properties green and energy-efficient. It will assist the tourism department on how to comply with Green Rating for Integrated Habitat Assessment (GRIHA).
 
GRIHA has been conceived by TERI and developed jointly with the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy (MNRE). TERI will also conduct training programme/capacity building for tourism department officials.
