Odisha to witness gradual rise in night temperatures after two days; Dry weather to continue Photograph: (OTV)
Odisha is likely to experience no significant change in minimum (night) temperatures over the next two days, followed by a gradual rise of 2 to 4 degrees Celsius during the subsequent four to five days, according to the latest weather analysis. Dry weather conditions have prevailed across all districts of the state and are expected to continue through the coming week.
During the past 24 hours, minimum temperatures recorded a marked fall of around 4 to 5 degrees Celsius at one or two places in North Interior Odisha. An appreciable drop of 2 to 4 degrees Celsius was also observed at a few locations in North Interior Odisha, and at isolated places in North Coastal and South Odisha. Elsewhere across the state, night temperatures remained largely unchanged.
Temperatures were markedly below normal by about 6 degrees Celsius at one or two places in North Interior Odisha, while they remained below normal by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius at a few locations across the state. In other areas, temperatures were near normal.
Jharsuguda recorded the highest maximum temperature of 34.4 degrees Celsius, while Rourkela registered the lowest minimum temperature of 7.6 degrees Celsius among the plains of Odisha.
Weather Forecast
Dry weather is very likely to prevail over all districts of Odisha from February 8 to February 14. However, shallow to moderate fog is expected during the early morning hours at isolated places in some coastal districts during the next few days.
On February 8, fog is likely at one or two places in Ganjam, Jagatsinghpur, Khordha, and Puri districts. Similar fog conditions are expected on February 9 over Ganjam, Jagatsinghpur, and Puri. From February 10 to February 12, shallow to moderate fog may occur during morning hours at isolated places in Jagatsinghpur and Puri districts.
From February 12 onwards, dry weather is expected to prevail across the state with no significant weather disturbances forecast till February 14.
No weather warnings have been issued for any district during this period.
Residents are advised to remain cautious during early morning hours in fog-prone areas, especially while commuting, as reduced visibility may occur briefly. Overall, stable and dry weather conditions are likely to dominate Odisha in the coming days, with a gradual easing of cold nights by mid-February.
