Bhubaneswar: In a step towards making Bhubaneswar the sports capital of India, Odisha government is all set to conduct the 25th All India Forest Sports Meet in Bhubaneswar.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will inaugurate the five-day sports meet at 5.30 PM on March 3.

As many as 2471 employees of forest departments from all States and Union Territories of the country are scheduled to participate in the event.

The participants will try their luck in 23 different sports events like basketball, volleyball, squash, table tennis, hockey, cricket, badminton, lawn tennis, archery, powerlifting, golf, carom, chess, bridge, billiards, rifle shooting, athletics, tug of war, swimming, kabaddi, and other indoor games.

In a bid to make the tournament successful the State government has constituted 16 high-level committees and made all preparations for conducting the event simultaneously at Kalinga Stadium and KIIT University.

This is the second time Odisha is organising the All India Forest Sports Meet in the State. Apart from taking steps for the smooth conduct of the five-day sports event, the State government is also planning different tour packages for the sportspersons, their fans, and family members.

Currently, Odisha is hosting the maiden Khelo India University Games, which started from February 22 and slated to conclude on March 1.
