The Odisha Government has launched a major initiative to identify children with disabilities through a month-long door-to-door survey. The Department of Social Security and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities has issued detailed guidelines to ensure that the process is carried out smoothly and accurately.
To recognise their effort and ensure thorough participation, each Anganwadi worker will receive an incentive amount of Rs 500. The initiative underscores the government’s commitment to early detection, timely intervention, and better service delivery for children needing special care.

Integration with Key National Policies
The survey has been structured in alignment with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (RPWD) Act 2016. Children identified during the process will be linked to various welfare schemes, including health, education, and social support programmes designed specifically for persons with disabilities.
Monitoring to Ensure Quality and Accuracy
Senior officials will periodically monitor the survey to ensure it is carried out effectively and transparently. Their oversight aims to maintain data accuracy, which is critical for policy planning.
Conclusion
This month-long initiative marks a significant step towards building an inclusive future. By identifying children early and connecting them to essential support systems, the State aims to ensure that no child is left behind in the journey towards empowerment and equal opportunity.
