Paradip/New Delhi: The Odisha government on Tuesday submitted a status report on the proposed Posco project at a meeting convened by Central government at Udyog Bhavan in New Delhi.

The state government in its report has mentioned steps taken for the progress of the project work, said sources.

The meet which was chaired by Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion Joint Secretary Talleen Kumar also had Special Resident Commissioner Vipin Saxena representing Odisha, added sources.

Earlier on Monday, Posco-India CMD Y W Yoon called on Development Commissioner J K Mohapatra at the state secretariat in Bhubaneswar to discuss the progress of the project.

Meanwhile, Tuesday’s land acquisition exercise at the proposed site in Jagatsinghpur district witnessed the dismantling of 12 betel vines for which about Rs 15 lakh was paid to the land losers as compensation.

The district administration on Monday restarted the move at Gobindpur village dismantling 19 vines. The land owners were given Rs 20 lakh as compensation, it said.
