Odisha strikes gold, around 1.5 tonne discovered in Mayurbhanj

In encouraging news for Odisha amid soaring gold prices, nearly one and a half tonnes of gold have been identified at the Kanjia gold mine in Mayurbhanj district. According to official figures, 1,462 kilograms and 730 grams of gold have been estimated at the Madansahi site following a G-2 level survey conducted by the Geological Survey of India.

The Odisha Mines Minister Bibhuti Bhushan Jena disclosed the findings in a written reply in the Odisha State Assembly on Thursday.

Exploration Underway in Other Districts

Gold-bearing ore has also been traced in the Adas-Rampalli area of Deogarh district and the Gopur-Jaldihi area of Keonjhar district, where exploration activities are currently underway.

Additionally, preliminary explorations carried out by the Odisha Mining Corporation at various stages have indicated the presence of gold deposits in several other districts across the state.
