Bhubaneswar: Normal life has been hit in several parts across Odisha with minimum temperature dipping to 2.8 degree Celsius in Daringbadi. Bhubaneswar also recorded an all time low in the month of December with lowest minimum temperature of 8.2 degree Celsius on Sunday.

According to Met department forecast, mercury dipped to below 8 degree Celsius in 8 cities with 10 districts recording temperature below 10 degree Celsius. Snowfall was witnessed in Koida and Tensa areas of Sundergarh and Phulbani in Kandhamal district.

Similarly, the minimum temperature recorded in Bhubaneswar this month has reached the all time low with the mercury plummeting to 8.2 degree Celsius on Sunday. The city had witnessed minimum temperature of 8.6 degree Celsius in 1992.

With the temperature dropping drastically in last couple of days across Odisha, Regional Meteorological Department in Bhubaneswar has issued cold wave alert for the next 4-5 days.

“Odisha has been reeling under intense cold waves in last two to three days and the situation is likely to continue for the next 5 days,” Weather expert of Regional Met Department, Sudarshan Das informed.
